I’m Kyle McKiernan, a wildlife photographer based in Southern Ontario with a passion for capturing the character, behaviour, and quiet moments of the natural world. I’m especially drawn to the moments that are easy to overlook. Whether it be a heron waiting motionless along the shoreline, an osprey returning from a hunt, or a warbler moving through the canopy during migration.

My approach to wildlife photography is rooted in patience and observation. Rather than simply documenting an animal, I want each photograph and video to reveal something about how it lives, behaves, and interacts with its environment. I spend much of my time exploring Ontario’s wetlands, forests, shorelines, and migration hotspots, learning the rhythms of the places I photograph and allowing moments to unfold naturally.

Photography has also become a way for me to experience the outdoors more deeply. It encourages me to slow down, pay attention, and continually learn about the species and habitats I encounter. The more time I spend in the field, the more I appreciate how much is happening around us when we take the time to notice.

Ultimately, I aim to create photographs that tell a story and give viewers a sense of connection to the wildlife in front of the camera. If an image encourages someone to stop for a moment, appreciate an animal differently, or feel a little closer to the natural world, then it has accomplished what I hoped it would.
